What week is it now?

It’s been a few weeks since I last posted about my BPC journey. I’ve found it difficult coming to terms with my daughter dying and her first anniversary came up a couple of weeks ago or so. It dragged up all the emotion again and my head isn’t up to playing poker. Every week I write in the BPC weekly diary, to play a minimum of 10 hrs this week, but it never happens. But that’s not to say I do not do nothing.
I still spend about 4 or 5 hours a day studying for at least 4 days and longer if I have no commitments. That’s one thing BPC can’t knock me for, my time spent going through all the Special Forces category’s and more. All my notes are this one long piece that gets longer everyday. But it did become boring just going on to the next video or webinar in the same series, so last week I said to myself, I’m going to start looking at other things and I checked out the Mindset section and thought wow, this is good. Then the previous live Webinars going back since I became involved and so it’s great to check out things I wasn’t quite sure about.
If I do have to be critical of BPC, there’s no teaching at all. I was under the impression that you have this coach who guides you through things and corrects you when you are wrong. No, instead, you are left to go it alone and if you have any problems or questions you write to support. Granted, this must have about 1000 members maybe all in the CFP program and it’s simply not time well spent. But I’ve had nothing since my welcome webinar with Alex.
I don’t bring hands up because I know what I did wrong and I don’t bring up times I was outdrawn because, I just don’t. So I just keep the studies going and when I get tired, I have a rest. It’s not easy being on strong medication, but I’m still enjoying the journey. It’s been a couple of months since I joined now and I do have to play this 300 hrs. I’m just going to have to play on my iPad more, but that means no stats. Tonight was the first time I’ve played whilst in bed and I dropped down to the lowest limit to do so. At least the rules do not say you can not drop down in stakes. Players think it’s a step below, I see it completely different, it doesn’t matter if I lose a buy in or two, it’s still only pennies. I do need to get into 3 figures by new year if possible and if I can play just a couple of hrs a night in bed, I will break that 100 hrs.
Right it’s 00-50am on a Sunday and the clocks go back in an hour, so I can relive this time again.
Onwards and upwards until next time.

Delayed CBet

In this video, I observed the delayed CBet with hero. The play goes like this - Villain raises and we call with a hand preflop. After the flop the villain who raised now checks after we check to the raiser. The turn card we now lead (the delayed CBet) with about 65% pot. Villain will most likely fold and if he does call we have to make a decision on the river. We only do this delayed C-Bet when we have some value in our hand. Don’t do this at every opportunity with bluffs because we will quickly get sussed out. So we must have some value in our hand to carry out this play.

Week 3 updates

I continue to study and make notes. This is the new stuff I’ve learned since the last update. Still not played Poker, instead concentrating on my studies. I have now downloaded the Hand2Note poker tracker. I think I have also incorporated the BPC hud but will need to double check that. The Golden Formula (Pre-flop) This is the only way to play poker, we need to %winning > % of total pot invested.  An example is - we are facing a $50 river bet and there’s $100 in the pot already. So we need to be correct 25% of the time (1 in 4) to make this a winning call. We may know we are beat 75%, but the call is still the correct play. This needs to be drilled into the mind because it’s such an important lesson. $100 in the pot already + Villain $50 & our $50 = $200. Our call bet of $50 is then divided by the pot to give us the pot odds 1 in 4 which is 25%. Break even threshold means - Required % to win on a bluff. We make a $50 bet on the river (bluffing) int...

First Post

I have decided to take on my first CFP at BestPokerCoaching.com and see if it can improve my game. I’ve played for 19 years now and since the accident now 10 years ago with the Back Op, my playing hours have almost stopped. However, this CFP contract is a minimum 300 playing hrs in a year long. But even for me that’s pushing it but I’m prepared to give it a go. I joined last Saturday night which is the 24th August and just 5 days ago. I’ve paid the security deposit of €250 which is refundable once the contract is complete. To complete the contract, I must win over €5000 net. With BPC I should have all the tools to breeze through it, but we shall see. I am also taking notes to maximise my opportunity and go back over things that I believe will help me complete this journey. So far no poker, I’m in no rush at all to get going, I’d rather take it all in, take notes, write the blog and see how it runs first. If you’ve played for the amount of time I have, you tend to slow down anyway. ...
